Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

We are located in the Wayside building on Main St., which is located across from the library of the center of Norfolk.

Do you take insurance?

We are in network with various insurance plans. However if we are not in your insurance network we can submit claims on behalf of our patients to the out of network insurance plans.

Are you taking new patients?

New patients are always welcome in our practice and we look forward to addressing you dental needs.

Will I need x-rays?

We recommend a full set of x-rays every 5 years and bitewing x-rays every year. Most insurance companies cover all x-ray costs. If you are a new patient to our office you can bring your old x-rays with you to your first visit or we can take a new set of x-rays.

How long does it take for me to get an emergency appointment?

We leave time available everyday for emergency appointments. Generally, you should be able to get the emergency appointments the same day if you are in discomfort.

How do you ensure the safety of patients?

Infection control in our office is very important to us. We protect our patients and ourselves by maintaining sterilization and cross contamination processes using the standards recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and by having yearly training updates and monthly meetings to review new standards.

What can I do if I’m missing a tooth?

One of the options would be an implant. This is the replacement of a tooth with a false root that is surgically placed in your jawbone topped by a crown that you can see.

What is bone grafting and will I need it?

Not everyone requires bone grafting surgery. A narrow unstable jawbone can not support dental implants, so bone grafting will be suitable to help support the implant. Bone grafting is done prior to the implant and will also require extra time for healing.

What are the advantages of implants?

The advantages of implants are:

1. An implant is most similar to a natural tooth

2. Adjacent teeth do not have to be involved in the placement procedure

3. Implants may decrease or help prevent shrinkage of the jawbone from tooth loss
